Effective September 17, 2020, OFD Foods, the makers of Mountain House Freeze Dried Food, has notified us that they will no longer be producing the Military LRP/MCWs in brown military brick pack pouches:
Mountain House said: "The military has changed their specs and we are no longer making the MCW's. The new Pro-Pak is now the new military spec."
The new Mountain House Pro-Paks are made to the exacting standards of the U.S. Armed Forces for Long-Range Cold Weather Patrols. The Military Spec Pro-Paks are now being produced for the military in place of the former brown package MCW/LRP rations.
The Mountain House Military-Spec Pro-Paks have a guaranteed 30-year shelf life when stored unopened in a cool area below 75°F. Mountain House freeze dried foods are recommended for emergency food supplies because of their long storage/shelf life.
Clean Label Packaging
Mountain House products, including the new Military-Spec Pro-Paks, have transitioned to a cleaner label. Clean label products are marked with the following labels:
- No Artificial Colors
- No Artificial Flavors
- No Artificial Preservatives
All new "clean label" Mountain House pouches are recyclable through Terracycle. Please don't burn! Pack it out!
