We love Spaghetti with Meatballs, so we made a batch of Freeze Dried Meatballs in our Harvest Right Home Freeze Dryer!
Using a 6 lb. bag of Kirkland brand Italian Style Meatballs from Costco, Bryan cut them in half and placed them flat side down on paper towels on the Harvest Right trays. (He also covered them with paper towels, just in case.)
The goal was to add the meatballs to some prepared Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, so we re-hydrated the freeze dried meatballs under a vacuum in an attempt to speed things up. In the end, the spaghetti noodles and sauce were ready but the meatballs were still hard in the middle. After an hour or so the meatballs were ready and were very good!
So, the takeaway is to rehydrate the meatballs first and give them an hour or so of time before you need them
